Gippsland Emergency Recovery Committee (GERC)

The Gippsland Emergency Recovery Committee (GERC), chaired by the DHS Regional Director, includes commonwealth, state and regional agencies and municipalities. GERC's role is to oversight the recovery program across impacted communities and municipalities and identifies strategies and initiatives to enhance recovery.

The GERC structure includes an Executive committee and five sub-committees:

  • Psycho-social Sub-committee, chaired by DHS, which oversights individual and family health and community mental health;
  • Natural and Agricultural Sub-committee, chaired by DSE, which oversight recovery of national parks, water catchments and primary industry;
  • Community Well-being Sub-committee, chaired by DPCD, which oversights community development and general community functioning recovery programs;
  • Economic Sub-committee, chaired by RDV, which oversights business, industry and tourism recovery programs;
  • Building Infrastructure Sub-committee, chaired by DPCD, which oversights building advisory recovery services and infrastructure restoration;

GippsRecovery is a website established to support Gippsland regional communities with local information and key resource contacts to support recovery.
