  1. Gippsland Bushfires

    The fires that started on Thursday 29/01/09 in Gippsland during sweltering temperatures, affecting, have had an enormous environmental, social, and economic impact.

    Residents of South Gippsland affected by the fire should contact (03) 5169 6299 or visit the Mirboo North Recovery Centre located at 16 Baromi Road Mirboo North. Residents of Latrobe City affected by fire should contact (03) 5821 1670 or visit Boolarra Recovery Centre located at the corner of Church street and Irving street Boolarra.

    WATER SUPPLY

    At this stage it is advisable to treat water.

    Families reliant on water tanks need to ensure wildlife has not sought refuge from fires in their tanks and is causing contamination. Water tanks may also be contaminated by ash, debris, and fire retardents.

    Latrobe City Health Officers can provide information in relation to water testing and usage by phoning 1300 367 700.
